The AI Alliance at HANNOVER MESSE 2024

Every year in April, the industry looks to Hanover - and the Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance is right in the middle of it. As part of the joint stand of the state of Baden-Württemberg, they show how artificial intelligence can sustainably transform the economy and society. All the information about the 2024 trade fair debut and an exciting look ahead to HANNOVER MESSE 2025.

Background information on the Hannover Messe

Hannover Messe is the world's most important industrial trade fair. Since it was founded in 1947, it has been a central meeting place for companies, scientists and politicians from all over the world. It covers topics such as automation, energy, logistics, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0. For around 200,000 trade visitors, the trade fair is the ideal place to discover innovations, forge collaborations and identify trends at an early stage.

A hub for innovation and networking

As for many other entrepreneurs, HANNOVER MESSE is a highlight of the event year for the KI-Allianz: it provides important impetus for international networking and the further development of the regional AI ecosystem. "The Hannover Messe offers us the opportunity to make AI projects visible and strengthen our network," explains Sandra Rohner, Managing Director of the Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance. This is where visionaries meet decision-makers, technology meets application, research meets practice. The Alliance uses the trade fair not only to present innovative solutions, but also to initiate new partnerships and exchange knowledge.

A highlight: the data production line

One of the exciting projects presented at the stand was the "data production line". What sounds technical is actually a catchy metaphor: sensors provide data that is processed into valuable training sets for AI models - all embedded in a flexible, ethically sound data platform. "We combine technical excellence with the requirements of the AI Act and international data spaces such as Catena-X," explains Dr. Thomas Usländer, who heads the project at Fraunhofer IOSB.

More than just technology

In addition to technical highlights, the AI Alliance also communicates its mission: to establish Baden-Württemberg as an internationally visible AI hotspot. This goal is supported by funding from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism in the amount of 11.3 million euros. "Baden-Württemberg's AI ecosystem benefits significantly from the emergence of regional future labs and lighthouses," says Minister Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut.

Next stop: HANNOVER MESSE 2025

There is good news for all those who cannot make it to Hanover this year: The AI Alliance has already confirmed its participation in next year's trade fair. They will also be at the joint stand of the state of Baden-Württemberg next year, presenting exciting exhibits on the topic of artificial intelligence. "The Hannover Messe is a strategically important date for us to shape progress and change together," says Managing Director Sandra Rohner.
