KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg receives funding decision for community management
Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg supports with around 2.43 million
Stuttgart, 31 January 2024: Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg: "The AI ecosystem in Baden-Württemberg will benefit significantly from the emergence of lighthouses and future laboratories of the regional AI centers of excellence, which are thinking ahead
to the economic world of tomorrow and are already demonstrating the opportunities offered by the key technology of artificial intelligence today. With the 'Community Management' project, the AI competencies of the partners of the KI-Allianz BW e.G., which are distributed throughout the state, will be bundled even more strongly and synergies will be created."
Networking through regional community management
KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg eG has now received 2.43 million euros from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labor and Tourism for its community management. The funding runs until the end of 2025.
Dr. Frank Nopper, Lord Mayor of the City of Stuttgart and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg, says: "The networking of all relevant players locally and across locations through regional community management is of central importance for the overall project. Synergy potential can thus be leveraged and a state-wide AI network can be established and maintained."
Michael Kaiser, CEO of the KI-Allianz and Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH (WRS), adds: "With the establishment of its community management, the work of the KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg is now taking a significant step forward. Information and knowledge are bundled and recorded locally , offers are distributed and synergies are optimally utilized."
David Hermanns, CEO of the AI Alliance, adds: "Especially for small and medium-sized and medium-sized companies in particular, artificial intelligence is a challenge that often requires support. The community management of the AI Alliance takes care of the relevant concerns of concerns of the companies in Baden-Württemberg directly on site. Baden-Württemberg companies."

The Community Managers of the Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance will work in and for their respective regions. The following are currently planned:
- Two Community Managers for the Stuttgart region
- Two Community Managers for the Karlsruhe region
- Two Community Managers for the Neckar-Alb region
- Two Community Managers for the Freiburg region
- A community manager for the northern Black Forest
- A community manager for the Ostalbkreis district
- A community manager for internationalization
About the Community Management of the KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg
The KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg is pursuing several goals with its community management: Firstly, the alliance wants to become more visible regionally and increase awareness of its services. Secondly, it aims to expand the partner network and extend and implement the Alliance's service portfolio based on the specific needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups. Community management will also promote the transfer of knowledge between the regions and the Alliance.
The work of the Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance
The Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance aims to network all AI activities in the state across all locations. The participating regions of Stuttgart, Neckar-Alb, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Northern Black Forest and Ostalbkreis want to create an innovation space with integrated, cross-industry and application-oriented data spaces, real-world laboratories and test fields for companies, start-ups and science, thereby increasing the value creation potential of and for AI applications in Baden-Württemberg. In addition, the Baden-Württemberg AI Alliance can make research and application expertise in the field of artificial intelligence even more visible internationally. The AI Alliance Baden-Württemberg aims to establish value chains from research to product in the respective regions and make them transparent. The expertise and value chains of all partners will be accessible and available to companies and start-ups in real contact points and experimental spaces in each individual region. The aim is to establish a cross-location service portfolio along the entire AI innovation chain - from qualification to knowledge and technology transfer through to commercialization.
About the regional AI centers of excellence
The state of Baden-Württemberg is providing up to 15 million euros for the establishment of regional AI centers of excellence in Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Neckar-Alb, Freiburg, Ostalbkreis and Ulm as well as cooperation measures with the northern Black Forest. The regional AI centers of excellence aim to be a point of contact for companies, start-ups, consulting institutions and science. They support companies in the state, especially small and medium-sized
companies, along the entire AI innovation chain, from basic research to market-ready applications. The regional and supra-regional projects aim to diversify the economy in the region and the state in a targeted manner and to tap into new growth potential. In this way, they make a significant contribution to the expansion of the AI ecosystem in order to secure Baden-Württemberg as a sustainable location for AI value creation
