Futuromundo: Not a normal festival, a movement

From July 3 to 5, 2025, Stuttgart will become a meeting place for everyone who wants to actively shape the future. The Futuromundo Festival brings together people from business, education, science, politics and culture - with one clear goal: to break new ground together. Talking to the founders and minds behind the event, it becomes clear that something is being created here that goes far beyond an event.

"Futuromundo is not a normal festival for us - it's a movement!" This is how Gordon Sommer describes the essence of his event. What began as an idea became a reality within a few weeks - thanks to brothers Leonard and Gordon Sommer's many years of experience in the creative industry and their desire to make a meaningful impact.
With Futuromundo, after 25 years of successful collaboration in a creative agency, the two found a project that perfectly complements their skills and reignites their passion for innovation. Their commitment is profound: one of the brothers gave up his well-paid job, the other sold his agency to devote himself fully to this project, which they "couldn't let go of from day one".

From idea to movement - with speed and team spirit

The speed at which Futuromundo's vision is becoming reality is impressive. "We just got started and it became a reality virtually overnight." This momentum is driven by the enthusiasm of many volunteers, who bring their joy and enthusiasm to the project, allowing it to overcome even difficult phases. The brothers emphasize that they can only manage this major project together, because: "Neither of us would have done it alone." It is the mutual support and shared fun that drives them.

Sustainability meets experience - formats with impact

But what exactly is behind the format? Futuromundo does not see itself as a one-off event, but as a platform for sustainable transformation. The program follows a clear principle: promoting projects that have an impact beyond the festival period. At the heart of the program is the concept of the "multi-conference" - four thematic conferences combined with a large open-air music festival. The aim is to think together during the day and celebrate together in the evening.

One flagship project is "MyMachine" - an educational format that allows children to develop their own dream machines. These ideas are being realized together with the University of Stuttgart and the Max-Eyth-Schule. Next year, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the Deutsches Museum want to join in - regional involvement will become a supra-regional learning network.

The "In-Train Future Lab" - a rolling innovation space between Vienna and Stuttgart, implemented with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Curiosity and Future Studies - is also forward-looking. Six hours of travel time, one topic: the mobility of tomorrow. At the end, there is no theory, but presentable results - including musical accompaniment by the up-and-coming band "Port", which gets on board in Ulm and gets the audience in the mood for the festival in Stuttgart.

Futuromundo turns Stuttgart into a meeting place for the future.

The vision: A global future event in Stuttgart

Futuromundo wants to be more than just a festival in the south of Germany. The aim is to establish a global forum for future issues - with Stuttgart as the starting point. The city offers ideal conditions: Pop culture, creative industries, key technologies such as quantum computing or extended reality - all under one roof. The Sommer brothers sum it up perfectly: "Let's celebrate, learn and create together - at a fixed time, in one place - with international appeal."

The KI-Allianz Baden-Württemberg will be part of this network - with its own stand where current AI initiatives, application examples and regional synergies will be presented. The cooperation with the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, the City of Stuttgart and the Economic Development Agency makes it clear: Futuromundo stands for joint effectiveness and the reduction of fragmentation in the innovation ecosystem.

The vision is clear: a growing, internationally connected future festival that permanently positions Stuttgart as a place of new beginnings and collaboration.
